Arts House: Refuge
REFUGE
Visit your local Relief Centre - A creative day of preparation.
On the weekend of 9th / 10th July, Arts House will host REFUGE - a 24hr disaster preparedness rehearsal for local residents, businesses and community groups at North Melbourne Town Hall.
As a community how can we come together to collectively respond to climate events or disaster? How can we ensure that our community is prepared?
Supported by Emergency Management Victoria and Red Cross Australia, Refuge will assist you and your family on how to respond in the face of a disaster.
Join artists, community members and emergency service providers over the course of the day to participate in disaster ready workshops, children's activities and be provided with information that may assist in the case of an emergency. Artists have been working with local communities as well as services providers on varying responses to emergency relief centres and delivery of services in these spaces. There are approximately 6 artist-led projects that will sit alongside the services:
Artists:
Latai Taumoepeau presents Human Generator 57 (Hg57)
Kate Sulan presents Nest
Jen Rae & Dawn Weleski present Fair Share Fare
Hannah Donnelly presents Dungin
Lee Shang Lun presents Information Flood
Dates: Saturday 9 July: 12pm - 10pm
Sunday 10 July: 9am - 12pm (with a free community breakfast from 9am)
