Pedal Empowerment Youth Program 2016
Next week we are wrapping up our first PEYP session for 2016.
We've had six wonderful participants who have been very engaged and have learnt a lot about bicycles, the industry, and hopefully a bit more about where they see themselves involved out the next period of their lives.
To let you know about our outcomes for this group:
* We have two participants potentially coming into our Work Experience Program. Both these participants have received a great benefit for the program and have a genuine desire to pursue a career in the industry.
* We have another three we are talking to about coming in our new stream supported employment where participants will undertaking further mechanical training and have the opportunity to spend some time with out mechanics learning about stock and processes in the shop. We will also help them with their resumes and interviews skills, and assist them in finding work immediately in the industry.
* This is the best potential outcomes we've had in terms of moving participants forward in further work or training opportunities. This is our first time running the supported employment steam, but believe it was have a significant impact on the number of participants we support in looking for work.
Referrals for Group Two now open!
We're now also taking referrals for our next program beginning 4th of May and running on Wednesday for 8 weeks. Please contact Kasey Holyman - Community Programs Manager - if you've got anyone who you would think would be suited for the program on 0405 028 438 or kasey@goodcycles.org
